Top 5 Best Backpack Beach Chairs
1. Tommy Bahama Cooler Chair with Storage Pouch
We all know the annoying feeling of having to keep up with the stuff you carried to the beach, and it isn’t fun. And that’s precisely why you need the Tommy Bahama Cooler Chair. With an all-aluminium body, the chair is lightweight, has two storage compartments, a cell-phone and drink holder (ah, the chilled drink of choice), a towel rack that doubles up as extra leg room when reclined fully flat, adjustable pillow, and 5 recline positions.
The chair also has a steel frame support, and carry-weights of up to 300lb, allowing you to remain perked up in your seat, perfect for taking in all that the beach has to offer. And as the name suggests, the chair can be carried like a backpack, because this is that type of list. If there are some things that we would critique, it would be that the chair sits fairly close to the ground, which makes it difficult to get out of. In addition, it doesn’t come with an umbrella, which to us, is an oversight. Not many places in the world come with more sun than the beach! If you’re the kind of person that values convenience over everything else, then this one is for you.
2. Rio Gear Ultimate Backpack Chair with Cooler
This is another very excellent choice for a beach chair, with many customers citing the fact that it sits fairly high, allowing for ease of getting out of it. If there’s one thing we like to do at the beach, it’s lazing around. This chair let you do this in ultimate comfort. In addition, the chair is super-light, comfy, well-made (thus likely to be durable), and just like the Tommy Bahama, reclines in 5 different formats. The towel rack, when adjusted to a fully flat position, can also be used to support your legs.
It also has a carrying capacity of 240lb, an insulated drink pouch (as discussed, very important), a thick cushion, cushioned arm support, and two carry pouches for all your stuff. One draw-back is that the zippers to the pouches are made of metal, which are likely to rust, because, you know, the beach! All in all, this is a very good option, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to those who want the better (not best) of both worlds; convenience and comfort. You would have to make a few sacrifices on this one.
3. WearEver Hi-Back Deluxe Steel Backpack Chair
With a weight capacity of 250lb, the WearEver chair is another fantastic choice to take to the beach. For one, it has an umbrella! (these guys are genius!). The umbrella is collapsible, giving you choice of whether you want to sit in the shade; I can appreciate choice. In addition to this, there are 4 ways to recline the seat, whilst the design includes a footrest to allow you to engage max chill mode. The wooden armchair rests are not the most ergonomic out there, but they do look good on the chair, and we aren’t sure which is more important.
It is also made of polyester, which while durable and weather resistance, might heat up in the sun. It does have a drink pouch, which you could use to cool should things get too steamy. It also has one of the largest pouches in its class that can be used to store a multitude of items, and to top it all up, it adds a carabiner hook for your keys. It doesn’t do as well as the ones preceding it as it is not as comfortable as the others owing to the material used, but not by much. We highly recommend this one for those who cannot have a chair without an umbrella, especially if you are prone to sunburn.
4. Rio Gear Big Guy Backpack Chair
This chair is much larger than normal beach chairs, in case the name didn’t ring too well with you. This allows those that live on the larger side of life to be accommodated, although it does have a carrying capacity of 300lb, so bear that in mind. This chair also has a lot going for it in the way of comfort, with many customers swearing by the level of ease in which they sit in the chair, serving its purpose quite well.
However, the chair isn’t as convenient as those before it, with some customers noting that the back pouch, whilst large, can only be closed using Velcro strips that take quite a bit of finicking to close. In addition, you will be required to flip the chair upside down to fold it, and with a pouch that is troublesome to close, contents may be spread all over the beach with the flick of a switch. That’s not to say that chair isn’t good, it is just to inform you on its kinks.
The chair’s touch aluminium frame should make for a very sturdy product, and the 4-way adjustable recliner should also add the level of comfort to perfect. However, because the chair sits fairly close to the ground, and because it is made for those on the heavier side of the spectrum, the chair will likely sink further into the sand. This makes it harder to get out of, especially considering the already difficult nature of this exercise for the target consumer. This is still a pretty useful product all things considered. Our target group recommendation is obvious, re-read the name of the product; you’re welcome.
5. Rio Sports Aluminium Ultra-light Camping / Beach Backpack Chair with Storage Pouch
If you want a basic, all aluminium, rugged beach chair, then this is the one for you. Though it does not have much in the way of convenient features (it does not have an umbrella or footrest), it is light weight, durable, has a carrying capacity of 240lb, made of durable polyester (weatherproof) and can be carried over much longer distances due to its light-weight construction.
The chair is adjustable to 4 reclining positions, which is more or less standard within its class, includes an adjustable pillow, a back pouch and a drink pouch. It also has very comfortable straps for carrying, and it in itself is a very comfortable chair. Want a chair you can take anywhere, and not just the beach? This one is the chair you’ve been looking for.
We hope that this list helps in getting you ready for the beach!!
