The Sergeant Major of the Army, in a recent interview expressed concern about Soldiers buying boots that fail to meet Army Specs:
We’ve identified some boots that we don’t believe are safe and in line with the military specifications for issue boots,” Chandler told Army Times. “We’ve asked PEO Soldier to take a look at the current boots that are available at the Military Clothing Sales Store and the exchange, and to help us to determine whether or not all of the boots that are available through the Exchange system in fact meet the military specifications.”
Chandler said he believes PEO Soldier has reached out to notify some manufacturers to say “these are the specifications, and we’d like you to take a look at what you’re providing.”
